Adult male common kingfisher (Alcedo atthis) perches and holds a topmouth gudgeon (Pseudorasbora parva) as a food for the chicks.
Parents use to have a rest right before flying into the nesting hole. Since it has only one entrance, it is really rational: they are not just rest, but looking for predators.
If they get in, there is only one way out…
Taken only about 50 miles from my residency… No need to travel far away for fantastic experience. Travel less, discover your backyard, reduce your ecological footprint!
