It is worth to look at things from different angle, before making any judgement. We all heard it so many times…
Purple emperor butterfly is perfectly visualizing the statement.
This is a truly mysterious butterfly. Purple on its wings is a structural color: have nothing to deal with pigments. You can see them purple from certain angle. Sometimes only one wing, while the other brown and orange.
From another direction they do look like some other, “common” butterflies. Just take a look at this series! Freyer’s purple emperor (Apatura metis) is my special favorite from the species live in Hungary.
Taken less than 3 miles from my actual residency. No need to travel far away for fantastic experience. Travel less, discover your backyard, reduce your ecological footprint!
