MAKE NO COMPROMISE…
Antal Englert is a qualified folk artist is mask carving. He does it for decades. He never let himself drew away by fashion waves or strange desires of wealthy tourists. He is doing one kind of mask, the BUSÓ.
The biggest festival in Hungary will be held in a week, attracting over 100.000 people. Certain men of Mohács city will dress as devils in order to pursue away Winter, bad spirit and bring fertility with Spring. This tradition is now a UNESCO World Heritage.
One of the reason that this tradition could reach this title is people like Antal. Guardians of the tradition. Who never made compromise about quality and originalism. I will post images from this event next week. Enjoy, and visit, if you can!
