FINAL CHAPTER

This is the last moment of winter pursuing tradition in Hungary. Devil-dressed men, called „Busó” burn a coffin on a huge bonfire, which represents last winter. Meaning, Spring “officially” starts now.

It is quite fortunate, that this happened exactly on the last day of February this year. However, date depends on Easter all the time.

There is always a message with a political cross-talk on the coffin. This year they painted “A busójárás jobban teljesít”, which means something like “Winter pursuing is doing better”. This refers to a political quote ran intensively for months in the country by the Hungarian Government saying: “Hungary is doing better”.
