ONE FOR THE KID…
Eurasian male kingfisher flies with a fish.
There is something you can certainly state about a picture like that: it will be given away, if the fish is in this position in the bill with head at front. Father will either feed the chicks with it, or give it to his mate, the mother bird as a courtship gift.
The position of the prey is crucial. Fish need to be swallowed with head first to avoid difficulties with fish fins, which might stuck at the throat… So parents are really attentive!
Taken only about 50 miles from my residency… No need to travel far away for fantastic experience. Travel less, discover your backyard, reduce your ecological footprint!
