LIKE A DREAM
Truly indescribable. Swarming of the Long-tailed mayflies is one of the most amazing natural phenomena I ever witnessed. I heard about if from my father first. However, we never could experience it in my childhood.
Whenever I got in touch with National Geographic Magazine, I had to think about my own stories. Something, what I can manage and produce on a low budget. Something, which can be unique and exciting for international publicity. Theme was not really a question. An insect species, which lives almost exclusively in Hungary. Three years under the water as a larva, than emerges and lives only for 2-3 hours to molt, mate, lay their eggs and die.
This became the first feature in National Geographic Magazine by a Hungarian citizen during its 113 years history. Many others had the same opportunity. Many others could do it too. An available natural phenomenon next door. Yet, you have to be well prepared and present it right.
