LOVE IS ON THE GROUND

We were cutting back lavenders with one of my daughters. She has a very sharp eye and recognized bees “wrestling” on the ground.

What really happened, that there was a mating couple of solitary bees. Time by time other males arrived, and tried to take place the successful

one. What you see on this frame is the mating couple and another male’s head, which is waiting for the right moment by hiding in a hole.

The true challenge is not making the picture, but to explain all this to a 5 year old…
