BLOODY VICTORY
Common kingfishers rarely harpoon the prey with their bill. Even
though, it is really sharp, they better grab the fish under water.
However, spearing happens rarely. Just like with this common rudd
(Scardinius erythrophthalmus). Usually kingfisher hunting method is
bloodless, but in this rare case you can see a huge red drop on the
head of the fish.
No matter how it happens, all fish end up in the chicks
stomach these days!
